I recently had the honour of speaking at the U.S. Embassy, where I shared the reality of what unresolved trauma can do not just to individuals, but to entire families and communities. My message was clear, “if trauma your goes unchecked, the emotional damage can last for years, if not, generations”.
Most of my work has been about serving those who serve others. I’ve spent many years helping people who find it difficult to speak about their chronic stress, trauma, and emotional exhaustion. These are the invisible wounds that so often go untreated.
So, Here’s the truth:
Did you know that veterans are facing a global mental health crisis In the UK United Kingdom?
• Roughly 100 veterans die by suicide each year.
• Between 6% and 10% experience PTSD though many don’t speak up.
• 42% say they don’t feel the government is doing enough.
In the United States
• 17 veterans take their lives each day.
• Up to 20% of those who served in Iraq or Afghanistan live with PTSD.
• Over a quarter struggle with depression and anxiety after their service.
Jamaica & the Caribbean
• Stress, depression, and undiagnosed PTSD are rising among service members.
• Many suffer in silence due to stigma and a lack of access to proper care.
Police Officers (UK)
• Police are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty.
• Over 90% report being exposed to traumatic events regularly.
• Nearly one-third have sought help for their mental health challenges but many fear stigmata within the force.
Nurses (UK)
• The nursing workforce is in crisis, with burnout and emotional fatigue at record levels.
• A 2022 report showed that over 60% of nurses felt their mental health had worsened post-pandemic.
• High emotional pressure, long hours, and exposure to death and trauma have left many emotionally drained.
This is why I wrote Who Helps the Helpline, When the Helpline Needs HELP?
It’s a 487-page journey into what happens when those who give everything to others are left alone to suffer.
My book covers:
1. Burnout & Compassion Fatigue – The cost of constantly putting others first.
2. The Ripple Effect of Trauma – How emotional wounds spread beyond the person carrying them.
3. Recovery Strategies – Practical tools and support systems that help people get back up.
This book isn’t just a story, Dear Diary, it’s a wake-up call.
We need to care for the people who hold everyone else together.
Whether through my writing, coaching, or talks, my mission is simple:
Give people the tools, methods, strategies, confidence, and the truth they need to heal, recover, and keep going.
We need them just as much as they need us.
Love Kevin
